It’s How We Want to Give Back to the Community

There’s a growing problem in our Atlanta neighborhoods that greatly affects people earning a median income. With rising housing and rent costs, households with incomes above 60% of the area median income are often unable to afford to live in the communities in which they serve. So, we’ve decided to do something about it. Quill will offer workforce housing options to people who want to discover a better place to live.

The Data Shows a Growing Problem

In many cities across the country, it’s increasingly difficult for middle-income workers to afford safe, quality housing in their own neighborhoods. Often, these workers and their families get priced out of their homes and have to choose lower quality housing in less desirable neighborhoods. As the Georgia Department of Community Affairs states, “A community’s housing options are key building blocks in the community fabric.” Atlanta has a long way to go to ensure achievable housing options for all of our residents. Until then, there’s something we at Quill want to do.

Introducing: Workforce Housing at Quill!

What is the Workforce Housing Program? Workforce housing programs assist households earning between 60% and 120% of area median income. These programs designed to serve critical community workers and emergency responders like teachers, police officers, retail workers, health care workers, firefighters, and others living in the same communities they serve. Where affordable housing serves households earning less than 60% of the area median income and helps people find safe and affordable homes, workforce housing helps to provide attractive and achievable homes for middle-income residents.

What This Means at Quill

The only way to see change in the world, is to create it. Here at Quill, we aim to do just that. We’re reserving 25% of our units for individuals and families making up to 80% of the area’s median income. These apartment homes are offered at a reduced rental rent, while still offering the same high quality features and finishes as the rest of the homes at Quill do. We take a lot of pride in the living spaces we develop and are excited to offer high quality living in Edgewood at reduced rates.
